Summer vacation will be upon us sooner than you think. If you’re starting to wonder how you’ll be filling up your kids’ vacay schedule, now would be a great time to look into YMCA Summer Camps!

The YMCA has been providing camps for more than 100 years to help children and youth build confidence, leadership skills and environmental awareness. YMCA Camps provide kids with incredible experiences that help them grow in confidence, discover their leadership abilities and develop the skills needed to reach their potential.

There are two different types being offered this summer: Day Camps and Overnight Camp.

Day Camps are available for kids ages 5-17, with locations across the Lower Mainland, Fraser Valley and Sunshine Coast. Kids participate in summer-friendly activities that include swimming, arts & crafts, sports and games, as well as literacy programming, hands-on science workshops and Play it Fair games that promote respect and cooperation. Day camps keep kids active, enable them to make new friends and acquire valuable skills, all while staying close to home!

Overnight camp at YMCA Camp Elphinstone is located on the beautiful Sunshine Coast. This camp offers unique opportunities for self-discovery, growth and skill building.

Working together with cabin-mates (each cabin has about 10 children close in age, along with two experienced counsellors), campers choose activities based on their interests and skill levels. Campers build friendships as they engage in exciting activities alongside one another—sailing, archery, climbing, ropes courses and so much more. Along with traditional camp options, they also offer a range of specialty camps geared toward the interests of children, from hiking, golf and even sailing.

YMCA camps are committed to creating healthy and positive camp experiences for kids and providing them with a welcoming environment where they can be themselves and build meaningful relationships with others.

Regardless of which YMCA camp you choose, your kids will learn new skills, make lasting memories and be active in a safe, fun and nurturing environment. And if you register with a friend who didn’t attend a YMCA Camp in 2018, both families will receive 10 per cent off their summer camp session fee!
