We don’t mean to alarm you, but summer is almost over. We know…it shocked us too. With that in mind, here’s a list of some fabulous getaways within a few hours of the Lower Mainland, which will make it a bit easier to squeeze an adventure out of the last few glorious days of summer.
Manning Park: Often thought of as a winter destination, Manning Park offers great opportunities to engage in the great outdoors only a couple of hours from Downtown Vancouver. Fishing, hiking and boating…oh my!
Cultus Lake: A waterslide called the Valley of Fear?! Where do we sign up? There are also plenty of smaller kid-friendly slides, pools and play areas.
Sunshine Coast: A short 45 minute ferry trip from Horseshoe Bay brings you to the Sunshine Coast…home of the Beachcombers, spectacular beaches, hiking, golfing and relaxing.
Bowen Island: Leave the car at home and take the 20 minute ferry to Bowen Island and walk your cares away. Rent a kayak, build sandcastles, have a picnic lunch and escape.
Pemberton: A beautiful drive up the Sea to Sky, and just past Whistler, is the beautiful community of Pemberton. The perfect rural vacations expedition with more than enough to entertain the whole family.
Seattle: Museums, Pike Place Market, spectacular food and fun. Need we say more?
Harrison Hot Springs: Harrison Hot Springs has it all. For the water-loving families, float, paddle or boat on Harrison Lake or relax in the hot springs. For the nature lovers, pack a lunch and hit the trails for a day hike with the whole family.
These mini getaways will help families stretch those last days of summer and create even more special memories that are sure to last a lifetime!
