Your family will be transported to a traditional holiday celebration of the past at the Burnaby Village Museum’s Heritage Christmas. This free family-friendly event has all sorts of old-fashioned fun, magical light displays, live entertainment, and more. It’s everything your family needs to get in the holiday spirit.
Stroll down the streets of the Village and you’ll see beautiful cedar swags, soft coloured lights, wreaths, and big red bows too. Vintage-themed shop window displays will highlight special winter and Christmas items.
Once you’ve finished your stroll, you can visit with Father Christmas (but only until December 23rd), enjoy free live performances, and perhaps a seasonal treat from the Ice Cream Parlour. Kids will get a kick out of the 12 days of Christmas Scavenger Hunt (where do you think those 7 swans-a-swimming might be hiding?). They can also take part in a heritage holiday craft or see if they can spot animal shaped eco-structures around the Village. They might just catch a glimpse of a unique team of reindeer pulling Santa’s sleigh.
With free entry, make sure to swing by a few times over the holiday season. Each day will feature different entertainment, including theatre performances, community choirs, street characters, and musicians. Just make sure one of the days you visit is a Sunday – every Sunday afternoon the aroma of fresh baking will waft from the Farmhouse Kitchen as gingerbread or shortbread cookies come out of the wood-fired oven.
Spend a magical, festive day with your family at the Burnaby Village Museum’s Heritage Christmas and you will be singing Fa-la-la-la-la the whole way home!
