It’s almost time to say goodbye to 2016! We’ve gathered a list of events and activities happening around Metro Vancouver this New Year’s Eve perfect for celebrating with your family. There are even a there are even a few that have early countdowns so the youngest party animals won’t miss out. And speaking of missing out, some of these events require a pre-booked ticket, so please visit the event website for more information.

Concord’s New Year’s Eve Vancouver
Saturday, December 31st, 6:30 pm, Canada Place Way between Howe & Burrard Streets, Vancouver, Cost: Free.
It’s Vancouver’s 2nd Annual New Year’s Eve party at Concord New Year’s Eve! This free family-friendly event will have live music, sponsor exhibitions, food trucks and of course, fireworks. This year’s events are officially part of the federal government’s Canada 150 festivities, celebrating the 150th anniversary of Canadian Confederation. There will be two firework celebrations, one 3-minute display at 9 pm for an Early Eve Countdown and a larger, 10-minute display at midnight.

Dry Family New Year’s Celebration at The Vancouver Christmas Market
Saturday, December 31st, 11 am – 9 pm, Jack Poole Plaza, Vancouver, Cost: Adults – $8; kids 0 – 6 are free
Head to the Vancouver Christmas Market on New Year’s Eve for a family-friendly dry celebration. This family-focused event will offer a host a children’s entertainment, live music, food and gift vendors so you can ring in the New Year as a family. This is the perfect event for the young and young at heart to embark on some holiday family fun. Mom and Dad will find it hard to keep up as little ones enjoy the following delightful activities: Visit the Photo Hut for a family photo op, take a spin on the carousel, keep dry and warm up in the heated Alpine Haus, listen to live music from Des Larson, Paul Filek, and BANG, get FREE kids glitter tattoos — choose from fun designs that celebrate the New Year German-style: A ladybug, a little pig, fireworks, and more, enjoy FREE kids balloon twisting and receive a FREE kids caricature: Get a funny artwork souvenir as we head into the New Year.

Family First Night at Mt Seymour
Saturday, December 31st, 6 pm – 9 pm, Mt Seymour, 1700 Mt Seymour Road, North Vancouver, Cost: adults $20, kids $15, snow tubing, snowshoe tour, food extra.
Family First Night is one of Vancouver’s favourite family-friendly New Year’s Eve events. Enjoy snow tubing & tobogganing; take in live entertainment on the main stage by children’s performers, Tickles and Yowza the Clowns, a magic show from Shmendrick the Wizard and an exciting fire spinning routine. There will be delicious food and hot apple cider to stay warm. Head out on a Snowquest or take a guided snowshoe tour. Then get cozy for early New Year’s Eve countdown and fireworks at 9 pm. You must purchase tickets for this event and they can only be bought online.

Family New Year’s Eve Celebration at Grouse Mountain
Saturday, December 31st, 5 pm – 10:15 pm, Grouse Mountain, 6400 Nancy Greene Way, North Vancouver, Cost: adults: $24.95, youth $14.95, kids 12 and under: $9.95. Family passes available.
Kick off 2017 at the Peak of Vancouver during Grouse Mountain’s family-friendly New Year’s Eve celebration. Enjoy entertainment and fun for all ages. Go for a skate, take a snow carpet ride down their new Sliding Zone and wander through the magical Light Walk around Blue Grouse Lake. Enjoy incredible performances throughout the night before an early countdown and firework display at 9 pm. Then you can head out on a complimentary family snowshoe tour.

Great Escape Buffet and Play 
Saturday, December 31st, 5 pm – 9:30 pm, The Great Escape, 20645 Langley Bypass, Langley, cost: adults + kids over 4: $21; kids aged 2-3: $11.
Escape the chilly weather at The Great Escape, an indoor family entertainment centre in Langley. They will be ringing in the New Year with laser tag, mini golf, deluxe buffet, door prizes, and an early countdown at 9 pm. Party hats, noisemakers, confetti, and great music are part of the package too.

Fraser Valley First Night 2017
Saturday, December 31st, 5pm, Tradex, 1190 Cornell Street, Abbotsford, Cost: $12 pre-purchase; $15 day of.
Come out and enjoy the fun! Fireworks, Balloon Drop, West Coast Amusements Carnival Rides, Face Painting, Bouncy Castles, Live Entertainment from Will Stroet, Crafts, Rock Wall, Mini Golf and much more. Your admission includes an all access pass to all these fun activities and food will be available for purchase at a reduced price to make this family event affordable!

New Year’s Eve Variety Show 
Saturday, December 31st, 3 pm & 8 pm, Norman Rothstein Theatre, 950 W 41st Ave, Vancouver, Cost: tickets start at $25.
Ring in 2017 with host funny-man Daniel Zindler and his cast of fools including circus acrobats, a magician, and even a marching band. It all ends early with one of Vancouver’s largest balloon drops, so the kiddos can get to bed at a decent hour.

Castle Fun Park’s Early Bird Balloon Drop
Saturday, December 31st, 10 am – 1 am, Castle Fun Park, 36165 North Parallel Road, Abbotsford, Cost: Admission & parking are always free- only pay for what you want to play!
This year even the littlest merrymakers can enjoy the countdown at Castle Fun Park’s Early Bird Balloon Drop! While you await the balloon drop you are invited to watch a movie on their 120″ screen; complete with popcorn, hot chocolate and cookies! There will be some nifty door prizes too! Enjoy any of the 3 uniquely themed 18-hole mini-golf courses, go karts, batting cages, laser maze, bumper cars & over 200 arcade games! Before the clock strikes midnight (or the ‘pretend’ midnight at 9 pm) capture a memory with a snap shot of you and your friends and family in one of our photo booths.

Whistler Presents: New Year’s Eve Celebrations
Thursday, December 31, 6 pm – midnight, Whistler Village, Whistler, Cost: $12.50/person (for tickets purchased before December 30th), children under 2 are free.
A family-style celebration at two unique ticketed venues within Whistler Village. Each venue will be filled with lively entertainment, games, crafts, activities and early kids NYE countdowns. Make sure to explore each one between 6 pm and 11 pm, then bundle up and head to Skier’s Plaza for a special edition Fire & Ice show at 11:30 pm followed by a dazzling fireworks at midnight.
