How did you decide to start Alovéa? Do you find it difficult to balance motherhood and working as a fire captain?
I started with Alovéa because I had hit the wall in my quest to feel better. I had worked for 4 years to try and get my energy up and feel good. And it wasn’t until I was introduced to the amazing powers of Aloe Vera, that my true healing journey began. I was suffering from adrenal fatigue from all of the stress I was under from leaving an abusive marriage, being a single mum and trying to navigate everything that would work for my daughter and I to work shift work at the fire hall. Once my gut was able to heal, everything fell into place health wise. I lost 20lbs, my energy was back, the sugar cravings were gone and I was on my way to feeling great again. It wasn’t only for my health journey that I got involved, it was also to help others that were needing help with their health as well, and also that we also have a one for one giving model. Anytime someone purchases something to help themselves get healthy, we also provide a nourishing serving to a child in need. We just surpassed donating 30 million servings to malnourished children, how amazing is that!

I have had a lot of support from my mum and friends along the way. It was a struggle juggling my shift work schedule at the fire hall, finding care that would work with my hours, and being away for 10 hour days and overnight for 14 hours. Somehow it worked out, and as stressful and hard as it was…it always seems to work out exactly the way it’s supposed to. I’m in my 21st year at the hall and the last 4 as a Captain.

What does your morning routine look like?
Making breakfast, packing lunch for my daughter, answering business emails, and usually a networking call. On the days I’m at the fire hall, I’m out the door by 7:30am

What is your go-to weekend activity for summer?
A walk in the forest

What wellness tips do you think are important to share with our readers and why?
Wellness tips I would suggest start with these 3 things. Eat healthy, exercise and get a decent amount of sleep every night. I would suggest supporting your healthy food choices with a great supplement (I can help you with that), as the nutritional value in food isn’t what it used to be, due to depleted soil. Get your heart rate up and get your body moving daily. If you’ve been sedentary for a while, start with a walk around the block, and build on it. And try for a min or 8-10 hrs of sleep a night. A good amount of rest allows your brain to file away and process what’s happened throughout the day.

#1 Time saving tip for the busy mama?
Be organized

Finish this sentence: The funniest thing I ever did as a mom was…
Get my daughter to admit her friends think I’m cool

What Was The Best Advice On Motherhood Have You Ever Received?
It was around eating vegetables, don’t focus on the daily consumption. If they eat a few throughout the week…. consider it a success!! And ketchup counts 🤣

What is your favourite part about being a mom
Unconditional love, I’m learning a lot about myself as well, and being able to let things go. I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for my daughter.

Is there a food that you think is really gross but you make your kids eat it because it’s good for them?
Kale….I hide it in my home made hamburgers. Although I guess I eat it too.

Any advice to our readers contemplating making the jump into entrepreneurship?
For anyone who is contemplating becoming an entrepreneur, I would say…. do your research. Be in love with the products and the company you choose. Whether it is something you’re designing on your own, or joining an existing company. Don’t get sucked into the “you can make a lot of money” line. It’s called netWORK marketing for a reason. I have loved the connections I have made, helping people, and so far my team and I have been a part of donating over 30 million servings to children in need. How amazing is that!!
