What is your #1 time saving tip for the busy mama?

I make lists! I live by my calendar.

What Was The Best Advice On Motherhood Have You Ever Received?

It’ll pass. When I was caught up in a stressful moment, my sister reminded me that whatever I was going through was just a stage.

Go-to weekend activity for spring?

I love going on nature walks and hiking. You can usually find me checking out new trails and catching up with friends with a coffee in my hand.

Is there a food that you think is really gross but you make your kids eat it because it’s good for them?

My kids have always been picky eaters so I have to admit, a lot of our meal times were stressful. To combat this, I would try to sneak in healthy food into meals so they wouldn’t know they were actually eating something that was good for them.

You wrote a Children’s book, how did that come to happen?  Are you a writer by trade?

I wrote this story many years ago when my kids were quite young (they are now 20 and 17, gulp) while I was working at WestCoast Families Magazine. It was a dream of mine to have my own children’s book published, but I never imagined it would have come true! My ‘day job’ has always been in the marketing field in some shape or form.

What is your book about?

There comes a time in every young cub’s life when the affection of his mother kisses becomes too much to bear. Too Many Kisses is written as a playful memoir that follows a young cub’s creative efforts to escape his mother’s kisses and his discovery when he finally succeeds!

The story addresses social emotional awareness in an engaging way that leaves both young readers and their parents giggling as they recognize themselves in the story.

You are passionate about Children’s Diabetes and support it by donating proceeds of your book to the cause.  Is there a story close to your heart that you can tell us about?

Peppermint Toast Publishing is dedicated to supporting charities through their books. I chose to support Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) because my niece was diagnosed when she was 5 and I have witnessed her struggles for over 20 years. Seeing a child have to be so responsible with taking insulin and keeping track of everything they eat and drink every moment of the day is such a huge undertaking for not only the child, but the parents as well. JDRF is a wonderful support system that offers camps, resources, and opportunities for kids and their families to raise awareness.

The JDRF Canada walk is coming up in June 2021, is there some information you can share with our readers?

Sun Life Walk to Cure Diabetes for JDRF brings together Canadians from coast to coast to unite and raise funds to accelerate the pace of type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. The Walk is a huge event that relies on the diligent hard work of many volunteers and Walk ambassadors.

Stay active! I am a firm believer that getting outside is medicine. I also believe that kids benefit greatly from camping.
