Dayna is a mom of two boys who just like most parents was trying to do it all. Working full time, managing the house, raising boys, and burning out! It wasn’t until Dayna started feeling sick daily that she decided it was time to make some changes. Not feeling well mentally, emotionally or physically was all due to lack of sleep and lack of her children’s sleep. Only problem was; how do you fix it? Parents don’t have any more hours in a day but a lot of extra stress so making sleep an easy solution should be… well… easier!!That’s why Dayna decided to change careers and focus on giving parents and families the rest that they need while being there to support them in the process!

What’s your morning routine look like?
I’d like to say; sit and enjoy my warm coffee but as a parent it can be a whirlwind! This is how it normally goes. Kids are now my alarm clock and they get up with more energy than I have all day! They eat breakfast while I make lunches, often forgetting to eat myself! We normally watch the Grinch…yes….all year and I try to get ready myself (as fast as possible). With one kid normally getting into some sort of trouble.

We hustle out the door into the car and I almost always have to return to get something I’ve forgotten, and it’s usually that now, cold coffee, I made while preparing the lunches.

But one day i’ll miss this so the routine of chaos doesn’t bother me, it’s our routine. It’s not perfect but it’s ours…ours and Mr. Grinches!

Go-to weekend activity for spring?
Currently love bike riding and throwing rocks in the water. Taking half of the beach home in our pockets too of course.

What is your #1 time saving tip for the busy mama?
Organize a drawer, pantry or fridge that has healthy, easy to grab snacks for the kids. This is also helpful for packing lunches!

Finish this sentence: The funniest thing I ever did as a mom was….
As a tired mama I pack lunches for daycare and school. One day, when I was emptying their bags I saw a little note on a heart shaped post it note. This was unusual as the teachers never communicated that way.

It said,  “Please sample items in lunch before packing. Your son let us know it made his mouth feel like bees were stinging him”.

I was a bit offended! I do the bento lunches and cut off the apples skin and sometimes even shape their sandwiches into dinosaurs! I try my best. But then I noticed the cheese…it was untouched but a small bite(my little one loves cheese so this was weird). Until I understood and realized I cut up and packed my husbands Habanero cheese! ????????

What Was The Best Advice On Motherhood Have You Ever Received?
Don’t over plan as things never go to plan anyway.

What is your favourite part about being a mom?
They don’t remember what they received for their birthday but they remember all the details of that fun adventure we had looking for snails ????

Is there a food that you think is really gross but you make your kids eat it because it’s good for them?
Luckily they like to eat! But I have re-named a few food items to make them like it:

Broccoli = Trees

Cauliflower = Trees with snow

Spinach = Leafs

Soy Beans = Hairy pees

Fish (salmon)= red chicken

Ok, all meat is chicken basically…

As a pediatric sleep expert, do you have any tips for new parents?
For new parents there are a lot of things to think about and remember and it’s all overwhelming. All you need to do is get your baby to sleep and eat.

“The easiest thing you can do for them in that newborn stage is to create a routine.”

An easy bedtime and nap routine will really help you stay on track with sleep and feedings. Also stick to their wake windows, this will not only help you but ensure the baby is not over tired!

For babies Under 3 months a good nighttime routine will look like this:

  • Bath
  • Diaper
  • Feed
  • Lotion and PJ’s
  • Story or Song
  • Bed

    Nighttime should be about a 30 – 40 minute routine and naps a 15 minute routine.
