Hello, long weekend! And boy what a weekend – there are so many awesome family-friendly events happening in Metro Vancouver. Watch the annual Halloween Parade in Vancouver, enjoy twinkly lights and an indoor corn maze at Harvest Glow in Langley, or celebrate the return of Salmon at the Gulf of Georgia Cannery in Richmond. Vancouver Halloween Parade & Expo

The 5th annual Vancouver Halloween Parade and Expo is a festival inspired by comics, anime, video games and mythologies from various cultures. Your favourite superheroes and fantasy characters will be summoned by artists using amazing costumes and props. Attracting more than 100,000 spectators, the parade turns downtown Vancouver into the largest Cosplay stage with floats, marching bands and special effects. This is a family-friendly festival so blood or gore costumes are not allowed. Halloween Parade takes place on Sunday, October 7th at 11 am on Howe Street.

Harvest Glow is the largest indoor fall festival in greater Vancouver, hosted at the Milner Village Garden Centre in Langley.

Fort Langley Cranberry Festival & Free Admission Day at the Fort Langley National Historic Site

The Cranberry Festival is held each year during the Thanksgiving weekend in the heart of historic Fort Langley. Celebrate the harvest and history of the cranberry in Fort Langley. Cool, unique vendors, free entertainment, pancake breakfast, and family activities await everyone for what is always a great day in the centre of the village. You can also enjoy free admission to the Fort Langley National Historic Site during the festival. Did you know the Hudson’s Bay Company exported cranberries to California during the gold rush? Put on rubber boots and jump into the popular cranberry stomp, as well as other farm-related games.

Draw, Draw, Draw

Participants will be invited to draw on the floors and the walls of the community centre, they will experiment with drawing to music and sounds, drawing with their non-dominant hand, drawing with their eyes closed, walking while drawing, drawing with pens taped to their limbs, partner drawing, and more.
