Ready for another fun summer weekend? We sure are! It’s perfect weather for the beach, the pool or the water park. How about an airshow? Catch the planes for free this weekend at Boundary Bay Airport. Or you can slip and slide in West Vancouver, visit a working wildlife rehabilitation centre, or join in on the ultimate celebration of music, food, and culture at Surrey’s Fusion Festival. Get hands-on with the VSO’s instrument petting zoo, celebrate the berry season, or join in on a circus jam. Savour the summer this year at four free family-friendly festivals happening at River District Town Centre. The Savour Summer Festival features music, entertainment, kids events, with a grand finale block party hosted by Westminster Savings on September 8th. Slip ‘N Slide on the Great Lawn
Friday July 20th, 11 am – 12 pm, West Vancouver Community Centre, 2121 Marine Drive, West Vancouver
Come splash, bounce and race your way down the inflatable. What a great way to cool down on these hot summer days! Open to everyone.

Critter Care Wildlife Society Open House
Saturday, July 21st – Sunday, July 22nd, Critter Care Wildlife Society, 481 – 216th Street, Langley
Come get a guided tour of the facility and see a working wildlife rehabilitation centre up close. It’s the only time of year critter care is open for viewing and see all the animals in care. There will be children’s activities, First Nations Carver & Story Teller Randy Tait, the Wildlife Rescue Helicopter, performance by the West Coast Thunder Drill Team, and much more! Food is available at the concession stand with all proceeds going to Critter Care! Admission is $5 per adult. Kids are free!

Surrey Fusion Festival
Saturday, July 21st – Sunday, July 22nd, Holland Park, King George at 100 Avenue, Surrey
Surrey Fusion Festival is the ultimate celebration of music, food and culture! Bears, Berries, and Beetles

What is it like to walk like a bear? What do bears eat? What do they see, smell and hear? Find out about bear lifestyles and habits through games and more.

Music Family Jamboree Event
Saturday, July 21st, 10 am – 11:15 am, Trout Lake Community Centre, 3360 Victoria Drive, Vancouver
We will make music! We will gather our community in a fun-filled morning of song and dance where we will sing our hearts out, have a good ole circle dance, a family dance party, and shake a few instruments too. This event is for families with children newborn to 8 years. Full parent participation is expected.

Free Instrument Petting Zoo
Saturday, July 21st, 10 am – 12 pm, VSO School of Music, 843 Seymour Street, Vancouver
Give your child a hands-on experience with many of the instruments available to study at the VSO School of Music! Families with children from toddlers to age 6 are invited to our July Instrument Petting Zoo. Children will have the opportunity to hear, touch and try a variety of real musical instruments, meet instructors and try their hand at musical crafts and games. This is a free event. Instruments generously provided by Tom Lee Music.

Willingdon Linear Park Grand Opening

Boundary Bay Airshow

Nothing beats the exhilaration of the Boundary Bay Airshow! This free event has something for all ages, both in the air and on the ground.

Romeo & Juliet
Saturday, July 21st, 2 pm – 4:30 pm, Queen’s Park Stadium, New Westminster
Free production of Romeo & Juliet presented by Shadows and Dreams Theatre Company. 2 pm shows at the Queen’s Park Bandshell.

Stories Under the Stars
Saturday, July 21st, 7:30 pm – 9:30 pm, Colony Farm Regional Park, Port Coquitlam
Hear children’s stories about bats and other wildlife. Then watch and help count the bats emerging at dusk. Presented by Colony Farm Park Association. This free event is for ages 5 – 10. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Berry Festival
Sunday, July 22nd, 10 am – 2 pm, Dude Chilling Park, 2300 Guelph Street, Vancouver
On Sunday, July 22nd, join us at Mt. Pleasant Farmers Market as we celebrate all things berrylicious at our annual Berry Festival! Look out for berry displays and tasting activities for kids and adults alike, discover berry recipes, storage tips & tricks, and enter your best berry pie in our annual BC Berry Pie Bake-Off for a chance to win prizes and glory!

Circus Jam New West!
Sunday, July 22nd, 3 pm – 6 pm, Westminster Pier Park, 1 Sixth Street, New Westminster
Come have fun in the sun at the first “official” Pier Park circus jam. Get your acro on or rock out with your props out! Meet somewhere on the grassy space to the east of the concession area. Bring a yoga mat or towel if you don’t want to get all grassy. There are also beach volleyball courts, a basketball court and hammocks if you want to partake in other sunny activities.
