Now that it’s summer, we want to take advantage of this good weather as much as we can! Our favourite weekend activities involve a park and outdoor picnic with the kids. Here’s a list of the highest rated parks in Winnipeg to enjoy with your whole family!

  1. Assiniboine Park A zoo, beautiful english gardens, a playground for your little ones, a miniature train and a quaint park cafe. What more could you ask for? Assiniboine Park also has great trails for a walk or bike ride, catering with activities for all ages. It’s so easy to spend the entire day here.

  1. St. Vital Park – Located on a bend of the Red River, this park is very picturesque. There’s a great trail along the perimeter of the pond that’s perfect for a trail run, cycling or leisuring stroll. Our tip is to bring some bread crumbs with you to feed the baby ducks along the way. Lot’s of fire pits as well that are perfect for a bbq! St. Vital also has 2 playgrounds for younger and older children to enjoy.

Location: 190 River Road

  1. Kings Park-This is a little gem in Winnipeg. Lots of open fields to play soccer, 2 baseball diamonds, a chinese pagoda, a rock garden, so many beautiful flowers, and the best off leash dog park! While there isn’t a playground here, it’s heaven for your four legged family members and a wonderful spot to take some great family photos in the summer with their very well maintained gardens.

Location: 198, Kings Dr

  1. Kildonan ParkAn outdoor theatre, olympic sized outdoor swimming pool and a witches hut are just some of the things that make Kildonan Park a perfect spot for summer. There are lots of picnic areas that are perfect for birthday parties and excellent playgrounds for children to enjoy plus a waterpark. There’s also a great restaurant at Kildonan Park – we’d recommend making a reservation prior!

Location: 2015 Main Street

  1. Bunns Creek Centennial ParkA little oasis in the suburbs of North Kildonan. We love the trails at Bunns Creek with exercise stations as you go along. The kids playground has also recently been redone and provides a great space for them to burn some energy off!
